Sustainability

I have always loved greeting cards. There is something very special about them. They are small pieces of art with thoughtful messages from loved ones to cherish and treasure.

I have created my cards being mindful of the environment, and beautiful to keep and love again in picture frames.

At Flower Brick, I hand paint my designs using watercolours & walnut ink before printing on 100% recycled paper with vegetable oil ink.

The cards are printed at a local eco-friendly printers. They have a water and chemical free printer. The paper used for the cards is made from the pre-consumer waste materiel that occurs as a by-product to the printing process, such as printers trim. The printers segregate all the pre-consumer waste and have it collected each week for recycling. This is then turned into recycled paper and the cycle begins again, which keeps it out of landfill.

The designs are printed with vegetable oil based inks. The benefits of this is that it comes from a renewable source. Vegetable ink does not realise VOC’s- Volatile Organic Compounds- into the atmosphere. These VOC’s are a major source of ozone pollution.

All cards come with a recycled envelope and are held together with a card catch sticker instead of using plastic cellophane. (For stockists I also have the option to cover cards in compostable film bags which are made from plants.)

All products and packaging are vegan, plastic free, recyclable and biodegradable. Made in the UK.

All cards can be recycled again, or better still, kept and loved. They fit in a 6x4” picture frame, make great book marks, gift tags or put in scrap books or photo albums.
